Freebase vs saltbase mitragynine extract: a buyer’s guide

Two extract quotes can show similar percentages and still describe different materials. The basis has to be written down before you compare them.

Why the basis matters more than the headline percentage

A mitragynine extract supplier can quote freebase powder, saltbase powder, or a liquid. The number on the quote is only useful when it says what was measured. Freebase means the alkaloid is reported as the free base. Saltbase means the material is a salt of mitragynine. Those are different statements. Treating the two percentages as interchangeable is how buyers approve the wrong lot.

Kratom Thai Exports is a B2B export partner, not the extraction plant. Partner processors run the extraction. We do not publish their names. Our job on an extract enquiry is to force the basis into the written specification before a sample is made: freebase or saltbase, the target, and whether any figure has been converted from one basis to the other. If a conversion was applied, the quote should say so. A bare percentage is not a specification.

This guide is commercial. It does not describe physiological effects, and it is not a method for using the material. It is the list of questions a wholesale buyer should settle before comparing offers.

What each form is, in purchasing language

Freebase extract powder is a dry mitragynine extract reported on a freebase basis. You set a target within what the processor can run for that order. The target is confirmed in the quote. The result that matters is the lot result, not a standing menu of percentages. We do not publish a public ladder of strengths, because the number is agreed per order and then measured on that lot.

Saltbase extract powder is a salt form. Say whether your file needs the result reported as the salt, or expressed back to a freebase figure. Both can be legitimate. They are not the same sentence. A sample quoted as freebase does not approve a saltbase production lot, and the reverse is also true. If you switch basis after the sample, ask for a new sample or a written waiver. Do not assume the earlier certificate still describes the goods.

Handling can differ between a free base and a salt. Solubility in a manufacturing process is a formulation question for your own technical team. We will describe the form you bought. We will not tell you how to use it, and we will not rank the two forms by a claim about the body. If a seller’s comparison rests on that kind of claim, it is not a comparison we will repeat.

  • Name freebase or saltbase in the first email
  • Name the target and the reporting basis
  • Ask whether any number was converted
  • Keep the sample and the production lot on the same basis
  • Match the certificate wording to the invoice wording

How to compare two extract quotes

Line the offers up on the same columns: form, reporting basis, target, whether the figure is as-is or on a dry basis, pack size, Incoterms, and the tests included in the price. A higher percentage on a different basis is not automatically a stronger offer. A lower percentage that names the method and the lot is often the clearer one. Prices themselves are not on this website. They come back by email for the specification you sent.

Ask what the certificate will actually print. A certificate of analysis is available on request for the panel you buy. It is not an automatic attachment, and it does not cover analytes that were never requested. If you need the mitragynine result, heavy metals, or microorganisms, name them. We do not claim that every lot is tested for heavy metals or microorganisms. The panel is the one in the quote.

Minimums depend on the form and the strength target. A high-strength saltbase powder, a freebase powder and a liquid do not share one minimum. Trial quantities can be sampled. Samples are paid, and the buyer pays shipping. Production is paid 100% upfront by bank transfer before it starts. The export notice for kratom is lodged at least seven business days before shipment.

Documents, then the next email

An extract lot leaving Thailand still needs the export set: the licensed exporter’s ONCB details, the shipment notification receipt, commercial invoice, packing list, and the air waybill or bill of lading. A certificate of origin and a phytosanitary certificate sit in that set when the destination requires them. The certificate of analysis, if you bought one, should carry the same lot number as the bags and the invoice. If the numbers diverge, stop and tell us before freight is booked.

The longer document path is in How to import kratom in bulk. How to read the percentage itself is in Understanding MIT % and CoAs. The product page for the formats we coordinate is mitragynine extracts. Liquid is a third format and has its own note for manufacturers.

When you write, include company, country, freebase or saltbase, target and basis, estimated volume, destination, and the tests you want priced. We reply within one business day. There is no phone number on this site. The address is the one in the footer.
