Kratom is lawful to trade in Thailand. Export is a licensed shipment.
Kratom has been lawful to grow and trade in Thailand since 24 August 2021. The trade is regulated under the Kratom Plant Act B.E. 2565 (2022). A commercial export needs an ONCB export licence held by the licensed exporter, and a shipment notice lodged at least seven business days before the goods leave. Leaf and leaf powder are the formats that show up in the public export totals. Extract is a separate specification.
That is the export side only. It does not decide whether you can import. Request a B2B quote with the format, volume and destination. We reply within 1 business day. This page is commercial guidance from Kratom Thai Exports, a B2B export partner. It is not legal advice, and it is not a health claim.

What ONCB published for January to September 2026
On 14 October 2026 the Office of the Narcotics Control Board published an export summary for 1 January to 30 September 2026: 2,580.75 tonnes, valued at 582.76 million baht, across 154 shipments. The United States accounted for 102 of those shipments and India for 47. The source is ONCB's own graphic on that news page: https://www.oncb.go.th/news/26425
Those are national export figures. They are not Kratom Thai Exports' sales, and they are not a forecast. An August summary on the same site, through 31 August 2026, was lower (2,318.71 tonnes and 145 shipments), which is what you would expect before September was added. Use the 14 October page as the later official snapshot, and read the graphic rather than a reseller's recap.
The figures describe trade that already cleared the Thai export side. They do not say that every destination accepts the goods, and they do not say that a future shipment will move on the same calendar.
Who holds the licence, and what the buyer sends
The ONCB export licence sits with the licensed exporter, not with the overseas buyer. Kratom Thai Exports coordinates that licensed export and checks that the document set matches the lot. You deal with this desk. We do not publish supplier names. The name on the licence is the one you should read on the paperwork.
What we need from you is the commercial file: company, consignee legal name, destination country, port or airport, format, estimated volume, and whether the destination asks for an import permit or a letter before the goods ship. If that permit is still in progress, say so. We may decline a destination where the goods cannot be imported.
Sourcing at country level is described on Sourcing. The step order, including the seven-business-day notice, is on How ordering works.
- Licensed exporter holds the ONCB licence
- Shipment notice at least seven business days before export
- Buyer confirms destination law, including state and city rules
- Consignee name and document address come from the buyer
- We may decline a market where import is not permitted
Document checklist
A kratom shipment is only as good as a document set that agrees with itself. Expect the licensed exporter's ONCB licence details and the shipment notification receipt. Quantity and lot numbers on that receipt should match the commercial invoice. Published buyer guidance describes the notice as filed through Thailand's National Single Window. Confirm the current screen on oncb.go.th before you treat a summary as the filing manual.
Also expect a packing list and the air waybill or bill of lading. A certificate of origin is included where you or the destination needs origin stated. A phytosanitary certificate is included where the destination's plant-health rules require one. A certificate of analysis is available when testing was agreed for that lot. It shows the panel you bought. It does not silently include heavy metals, microorganisms or a mitragynine result. Quality and CoAs is the page that states that limit.
- ONCB export licence details, in force, in the exporter's name
- Shipment notification receipt, quantity and lots matching the invoice
- Commercial invoice and packing list, same product words on both
- Certificate of origin, where the destination or the buyer needs it
- Phytosanitary certificate, where plant-health rules require one
- Lot CoA, only for the analytes named in the quote
- Air waybill or bill of lading, consignee and weights matching the packing list
Destination snapshot: confirm the rule before you book freight
United States. Federal and state rules are not the same sentence. The DEA notice of intent published on 14 October 2026 (Federal Register 2026-20943) describes thresholds for 7-hydroxymitragynine and mitragynine pseudoindoxyl. A temporary order will not be published before 13 November 2026. The practical note for importers is in 7-OH thresholds for kratom importers. State and city rules can ban or restrict sales even when a federal schedule does not. Check the destination, not a national headline.
European Union. Each member state writes its own control. Czechia has been reported as advancing a lex kratom package that includes an age floor, limits on online sale, and an excise. Confirm the text that is actually in force with counsel in the destination before you ship. We do not treat a news report as your import licence.
India. ONCB's January to September 2026 summary lists India as 47 of 154 shipments. That is an origin statistic about Thai exports. It is not a statement that Indian import is unrestricted, and it is not a permit.
Everywhere else, including those three, the rule on this site is the same: you confirm that import, possession and sale are lawful in the destination country, state and city. We may decline the shipment.
Timeline: sample, specification, notice, then freight
The calendar is a stack. First the specification: kratom leaf or kratom powder, vein grade if you need one named, mesh if it is powder, moisture, packaging, destination and volume. Then a paid sample if you want one. Samples are paid, and the buyer pays shipping. Then the written quote: minimum, lead time, Incoterms and price. Production is paid 100% upfront by bank transfer before it starts.
The ONCB shipment notice sits at least seven business days before export. Freight comes after that. Published forwarder estimates, which we pass on as estimates and not as guarantees, put standard air at about 6 to 10 days to the United States and direct sea from Laem Chabang to Los Angeles at about 19 to 24 days. Those figures are transit, not the whole lead time. Your broker clears the goods on arrival.
Request a B2B quote when the specification is far enough along to price. We reply within 1 business day. There is no phone number on this site.
